Fine Art Foundation Degree

For my final outcome, I want to produce a series of 4 framed pieces that have a similar style but include different imagery, using a mix of medias. I would like these pieces to have a flow, so I want to come up with a story behind them that is open to interpretation.  I began researching different symbolism behind birds & found images of them in certain poses that I liked to provide a reference for my initial sketches. Whilst drawing them out, I had to think about the levels of detail & how it would look simplified as a string piece. A lot of the imagery includes smaller details, so my plan is to add more colour by possibly doing some embroidery / using thread which will allow me to add smaller details such as flowers. I already included thread in my last robin piece to add a pop of colour to its chest, so it wont look out of place if I continue this on the others to. As I really enjoyed working with symbolism through living things such as birds & body language I wanted to continue this for my personal project & push forward & develop some of my ideas from the last project, 'Structure'. The piece I did using string to create images worked really well in my opinion. The way I used mixed media & pops of colour really helped push forward some of the imagery I used & unveil the symbolism & deeper meaning within my work.  To start this project, I set out a list of birds with different meanings, gathering images from the internet of them in different positions, interacting with each other. This provided many reference images for me for future pieces & also gave me more information & knowledge on history of some of these birds & their connection to people.
